Zero to Airline

Step 1 - PPL Private Pilot License

The Private Pilot License (PPL) is the first step for aspiring pilots, either as a hobby or career. It involves modular training, combining ground theory and flight training. Ground theory includes 110 hours covering 9 subjects, with exams for each, plus Radio Telephony and English Proficiency exams. Flight training requires a minimum of 45 hours, including 25 hours with an instructor and 10 solo. Training includes aircraft familiarization, local maneuvers, circuits, advanced solo maneuvers, navigation, and instrument flight, as per EASA guidelines.

Step 2 - ATPL, BIFM, Night, Hour Buildup

The ATPL is the highest pilot ground school certification, allowing pilots to captain large aircraft. European Pilot Academy offers complete ATPL program with a 98% pass rate.

Theoretical Knowledge

Complete 650 hours of theoretical knowledge, with 200 hours in class. The 13 Subjects include Air Law, Aircraft General Knowledge, Instrumentation, Mass & Balance, Performance, Flight Planning, Human Performance, Meteorology, Navigation, Radio Navigation, Operational Procedures, Principles of Flight, Communications, and KSA.

Training Schedule

  • Class-Based: Complete 50% of hours in class, joining any of the four modules, each lasting 2 months, followed by exams at Transport Malta-Civil Aviation Department (TM-CAD) and/or other EASA authorities or exam centre.

Step 3 - MEP, IR, CPL

 Night Rating

The Night Rating extends PPL privileges, allowing night flights. Requires 5 hours of flight training: 3 hours dual, 1 hour dual cross-country navigation, 1 hour solo, and 5 takeoffs and full-stop landings as Pilot in Command.

BIFM

Enhances instrument flight skills, covering instrument interpretation, attitude flying, navigation, and emergency protocols. Requires 5 hours on FNTP2 Simulator and 5 hours on Piper Aircraft.

Hour Buildup

Build the required hours towards your commercial pilot license by flying single engine aircraft as pilot in command. You would be required to build a total of 85hours towards your Commercial Pilot Licence

Commercial Pilot License (CPL)

The Commercial Pilot License (CPL) is essential for students who want to peruse a pilot career for their flying time and is typically the final step before becoming an Airline pilot. The CPL(A) is often pursued alongside a Multi-Engine Rating (ME) and an Instrument Rating (IR). Flight training for the CPL includes a minimum of 15 hours of flight training split with 10 hours in a glass cockpit single engine aircraft and 5 hours in the Diamond DA42. To obtain the CPL, the pilot must have at least 200 total flight hours.
